I read the following post on GNU.org and found it interesting:

 

In the free software movement, we believe computer users should have the freedom to change and redistribute the software that they use. The “free” in “free software” refers to freedom: it means users have the freedom to run, modify and redistribute the software. Free software contributes to human knowledge, while nonfree software does not. Universities should therefore encourage free software for the sake of advancing human knowledge, just as they should encourage scientists and other scholars to publish their work.

Breaking boundaries with collaboration.

I read the following post on opensource.com and found it interesting:

 

Google the word collaboration and you’ll find websites that want to sell you collaboration tools, blogs that describe best practices for facilitating collaboration, and self-help sites that want to teach you better collaboration skills.

You’ll read over and over again that best practices prescribe bringing together individuals with varied backgrounds. But what you probably won’t read is exactly how to bring together rivals or antagonists skillfully. You may be able to find examples or debriefs of this type of collaboration–with some very interesting outcomes. (more…)
